Hoops skipper Brown claimed the Dons, runners-up in the previous two seasons, would be the side most likely to push Celtic who are going for title number six in a row.

When Warburton, speaking on Sky Sports News, was asked if the Parkhead midfielder’s comments had got inside his players’ minds and riled them up, he said: “Not at all. Football is a game of opinions.

“Scott is a very experienced player, he has put forward his opinion. All we do is put forward ours.

“We know where we are, we know how prepared we are, we know how tough a challenge it is going to be but as I say, enjoy opinions, discussion points, that’s what the game is all about but we know where we are, that’s for sure.”
