Mark McGhee to be confirmed as Motherwell boss

The Scotland assistant boss, 58, who managed the Fir Park side between 2007 and 2009 before leaving for Aberdeen, has struck a deal to return to the Lanarkshire club.
Stephen Craigan, who has been caretaker since Ian Baraclough departed the club last month, pulled out of the running, leaving the way clear for McGhee.

Ex-Motherwell player Simo Valakari had been considered but McGhee’s experience has proved crucial in the final part of the process.
He will be unveiled as the club’s new manager at a press conference at around 6pm.
His first match in charge will be at home to champions Celtic in Saturday’s televised lunchtime fixture.
