Mark McGhee charged with misconduct over Dundee outburst

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee faces disciplinary proceedings following his reaction to his side's controversial Premiership defeat by Dundee earlier this month.

McGhee was unhappy that referee John Beaton and assistant Ross Haswell allowed play to continue after Dundee goalkeeper David Mitchell appeared to carry the ball over his goal-line after catching Scott 
McDonald’s cross.

The Scotland assistant 
manager has been hit with a misconduct charge by Scottish Football Association compliance officer Tony McGlennan accusing him of adopting aggressive behaviour and using “offensive, abusing and/or insulting” language towards both a match official and a steward.

McGhee, whose team lost 2-0 at Dens Park on 5 November, has a week to respond with a hearing date pencilled in for 
1 December.

After the game, McGhee was asked if he had received an explanation from Beaton. 
He said: “They don’t give you any explanation. He never gave me any explanation last year when he gave a penalty against Chris Cadden and we drew 2-2 here. The same 
referee.

“I have to say though, the linesman has got to help him. There are two of them there and they can’t see it. I can’t understand it.’’
