Lothian Thistle 0-1 Spartans

Spartans started the
brighter of the two sides and for the first 20 minutes were camped in the Lothian half, but they couldn’t create any clear goal scoring chances.

Despite Spartans enjoying more of the possession, Lothian had the best chance to score just before the interval. Craig Stevenson whipped in a free kick and it caught out
Chris Flockhart, though thankfully for Spartans the ball hit the woodwork before the
danger was cleared.

Alasdair MacKinnon, pictured, headed Spartans into the lead shortly after half time when he got on the end of a corner and his fierce header from close range left Kevin Swain with no chance.

Callum Connolly then had a chance to level when he got on the end of a cross, but his
powerful effort went just wide of the target.

Jack Beesley came of the bench and had a hat-trick of chances, the best of these
coming after some great play from Keith McLeod who cut the ball back to Beesley, but his
effort hit the woodwork.

Donal Henretty had a chance to score when Beesley played him in, but the big striker, who broke away from the defence, sent his shot straight at Swain.
