A DOUBLE from Kenny Deuchar proved just what the doctor ordered as Livingston gained their first league win of the new season and posted warning they intend to do more than merely survive back in the First Division.

It was a victory with its foundations in a quickfire opening in which the Lions were two ahead inside 13 minutes courtesy of a clinical rebound finish from Iain Russell, and a bundled effort from Deuchar.

Dundee looked for something to cling to and, while they certainly created enough chances, it was Livi who grabbed a third on the hour mark through Deuchar, who held off two Dundee defenders before firing home.

That should have been that, but Dundee refused to lie down and full back Gary Irvine reduced the deficit instantly with a smart finish before Andrew McNeil in the home goal diverted the ball into his own net soon after to really bring the game back to life.

Dundee went for broke, but were killed off when Keaghan Jacobs fired home from the edge of the area inside stoppage time.
