Livingston FC apologises for Rangers Twitter gaffe

LIVINGSTON FC have apologised after a derogatory comment about Rangers was made on its official Twitter feed.

The club said the volunteer who posted the tweet, criticising rescheduling of the final game of the season after St Mirren v Rangers was switched for TV, had “withdrawn their services”.

Livingston said the volunteer had believed he was posting the comment on his own account.

A club statement read:” Earlier this evening the Club’s Twitter account was used to send a flippant reply to a comment concerning the movement of our last game of the season to Sunday 1 May.

“This was done in error by a trusted volunteer who assisted with our social media, as they believed the comment was being made from their own personal account and not the Club’s. The volunteer has subsequently withdrawn their services from the Club, and all their LFC social media privileges have been revoked.

“The comment was deleted as soon as it was discovered and a disclaimer issued, but unfortunately a screenshot has since been shared on social media and has generated some heated responses.

“Livingston FC would like to clarify that we do not share this individual’s view and have no issues with the Raith Rovers game being moved by the SPFL.

“We also apologise unreservedly for any upset this error has caused.”
