Livingston 1 - 3 Dumbarton: Prunty in overhead kick

GIVEN the corresponding fixture provided last term’s goal of the season, it was appropriate that Dumbarton’s 3-1 victory at Livingston was furnished by two more moments of utter brilliance.

Bryan Prunty’s remarkable overhead kick from 20 yards when these sides met on February 9 ensured the experienced striker became an internet sensation.

And it was Marc McNulty who was first to follow in those footsteps, opening the scoring for Livingston with a goal of sublime finesse and technique, meeting a Coll Donaldson cross full on the instep to volley into the top-corner from just outside the box.

Not to be outdone, Mitchel Megginson levelled before the break with a fizzing drive from the edge of the box after a Dumbarton corner was woefully defended by Livingston.

The turnaround was complete in the second period when Connor McDonald crashed into Paul McGinn inside the area, with Chris Turner netting the Sons’ penalty.

Continuing the theme of deja vu, Prunty, on as a second-half sub, rounded off the scoring, albeit in considerably less eye-catching fashion, by tapping in from six yards after a Mark Gilhaney cross.
