Livingston 0-0 Hamilton: Accies regain lead

HAMILTON’S leadership of the Championship was restored after a goal-less draw played in the most horrific conditions.

The high cross-field wind did neither side any favours, and coupled with the driving rain, football was always going to be at a premium.

Nevertheless Accies, desperate to bounce back from defeat at Alloa the previous week, which cost them their long time leadership of the Champonship, almost took the lead after just one minute when James Keatings picked out Ali Crawford, pictured below, who drove just wide from 20 yards.

Both outfits did their best to entertain in atrocious conditions, with Crawford again trying his luck from distance after 15 minutes, but was again just off target.

Conditions continued to deteriorate to the extent the game was becoming farcical, with pass after pass going astray and surface water all over the pitch.

The game became even more farcical when referee Mat Northcroft began the second half with Livingston goalkeeper Darren Jamieson still in the dressing room and had to 
re-start it when it was pointed out to him by the players, much to the embarrassment of the red-faced whistler.

Livingston battled the elements manfully in 61 minutes when Keaghan Jacobs had a 25-yard shot which crashed back off a post. And in 76 minutes O’Brien was also out of luck when his effort from the same spot smashed off the same upright.

It would have been cruel for either side to have taken full points from a game, which in truth, should have been abandoned.
