Leigh Griffiths won't go to Hampden to watch Hibs in final

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths says he will resist any temptation to go along to Hampden Park and support Hibs when they face Rangers in the Scottish Cup final.

Griffiths recently stated that he still feels like he’s on his final warning at Celtic having been disciplined by the club for his behaviour while supporting Hibs at Tynecastle two seasons ago.

A Celtic player at the time, Griffiths was filmed since an offensive song about former Hearts hero Rudi Skacel in a bar before the game.

The striker looks upon the moment as a turning point in his career as he decided to knuckle down, concentrate on his football and stay out of trouble away from the pitch.

This means he won’t be attending May’s showpiece match, though he will retain a keen interest in Hibs’ quest for both promotion to the Premiership and Scottish Cup glory.

He said: “I’m happy to sit in the house and watch the final. Or I might go on holiday and sit in a bar to watch it – just as long as I’m not in trouble!

“It would be nice if Hibs did the business. I’d obviously like to see them get promotion as well. We’ve lost another big club from the Premiership in Dundee United this season and another one, Kilmarnock, are in the play-off. But if either Hibs or Falkirk come up, they will benefit the top tier.”
