Griffiths, with 13 goals to his name this season, hinted earlier this week that he could be tempted by a move away after emerging as a potential target for Celtic.

But Jackett has no plans to move him on and he said: “I have spoken to Leigh but what was said and the nature of the conversation will stay private between me and Leigh.

“He has expressed quite a strong interest in Celtic generally. That has been the nature of what I have seen.

“I have spoken to him but there is no problem or any great problem with him at all.

“I generally don’t worry about things until anything [a bid] does happen. If you are waiting for that or you read the speculation then it can run away with you and you take your eye off the main thing which is winning your next game.

“It is not something I worry about. I accept that speculation is there. But there has been no approach or bid for Leigh.

“I think that he was a good addition for us at the start of the season and will continue to be so. If he can double his goal tally it will mean we are being successful and getting the wins that we want.

“I try to be as clear with my players as I can and straight with them and I expect the same back.

“And what I want to do is try to build up a good strong group of strikers if I can and if you are going to be a successful club over a number of years, which is what we want to be, then that is what you need.”
