Leicester City's title party puts hospital under strain

A hospital had double the usual number of patients attending its accident and emergency department overnight after ecstatic football fans celebrated Leicester City winning the Premier League title.

Leicester Royal Infirmary asked people who do not need emergency treatment to call for healthcare advice instead following the influx of people arriving for medical help.

The hospital wrote on Twitter that it was “feeling the effect” of the lively celebrations after the Foxes beat Everton 3-1 at home on Saturday.
