League One round-up: Livingston sparkle against Diamonds

Livingston took a significant step towards the title, moving 11 points clear with a convincing 4-2 home win over Airdrieonians.

Top scorer Liam Buchanan had an early chance but directed his header straight at goalkeeper Rohan Ferguson.

But it did not take long for Livingston to move in front. Buchanan chased a lost ball and cut the ball back for Danny Mullen, pictured, to open the scoring.

Before Airdrie had time to recover, Declan Gallagher netted the second after Shaun Byrne’s shot hit the post.

Airdrie pulled a goal back before half-time when Ryan Conroy beat Liam Kelly with a 30-yard free-kick.

Conroy struck the crossbar at the start of the second half as Airdrie continued to threaten.

But Mullen netted his second of the game to make it 3-1 with a shot from the edge of the area.

Nicky Cadden got the fourth before Andy Ryan pulled back a late goal for Airdrie from the penalty spot.

Alloa Athletic had to settle for a 2-2 home draw with Queen’s Park.

Iain Flannigan gave them the lead when a Calum Waters’ free-kick hit the bar and broke for him.

But the Glasgow side equalised when David Galt fired home after Dario Zanatta’s initial effort had been saved.

Scott Taggart headed Alloa back in front at the start of the second half. Ewan MacPherson equalised in injury-time.

Jamie Redman also struck in injury-time as Peterhead forced a 2-2 draw with Stranraer.

Rory McAllister gave Peterhead an early lead when he curled a free-kick beyond Cameron Belford, but Craig Malcolm equalised and Scott Robertson gave Stranraer a 2-1 lead before half-time.

Albion Rovers beat Stenhousemuir 3-0. After a goalless first half, Ross Stewart netted two quick goals and Scott McBride added a third.

Brechin beat East Fife 2-1 with Andy Jackson hitting the winner. Liam Watt hit the opener but Chris Duggan equalised from the spot.
