Late goal gives Whitehill victory

Whitehill Welfare picked up three valuable points in their 1-0 victory against Edinburgh University in the Central Taxis Premier Division thanks to a late goal from Aaron Sommerville.

The students were reduced to ten men midway through the first half when Jack Beacher tripped John Hall.

Edinburgh City scored five goals without reply against Leith Athletic thanks to Gary Cenerazzo, Andy Howat, Paul Devlin and Dougie Gair’s double.

Tynecastle maintained their winning form under new manager Tom Steven with a 2-0 victory against Loth-ian Thistle. The goals came from Josh Morris and Robbie Arthur.

Civil Service Strollers moved into the top half of the table with a 3-0 win at bottom club Selkirk, with goals from Steven Inglis, Craig Anderson and Scott Gormley.

In the First Division, Preston Athletic extended their lead at the top to seven points with a 4-2 away win against Coldstream, while Craigroyston moved into second with a 3-2 win against Easthouses Lily.

Hawick Royal Albert recorded their first win of the season with a 3-0 win against Ormiston. Eyemouth United beat Heriot Watt University 2-1 and Kelso United overcame Duns 4-2.
