The striker decided against meeting with his fellow countrymen, choosing instead to sign a two-year contract at Tynecastle after a fourth day of negotiations with his new club.

Gillespie, once of Newcastle and Manchester United, tweeted out a photo of himself with Neil Lennon along with “still waiting” and “#whereslafferty”.

When probed by fans on why he was calling out a “client” in public, Gillespie told a Hibs fan: “Kyle Lafferty has several agents. Not our player. When you find out how disrespectful he was to your club you’ll understand.”

Lafferty is set to talk to the media on Thursday afternoon for the first time since becoming a Hearts player.
