Kris Boyd jeers could cheer punters

WHEN Scotland take to the field against the Czech Republic at Hampden a week tomorrow, forgive those who may be blocking your view as they press one ear tightly against the television screen.

Bookmakers McBookie.com have leapt on the return of Rangers striker Kris Boyd by offering odds on how the Tartan Army receive him.

Boyd, of course, decided he did not want to play for his country while George Burley was Scotland manager following the goalless World Cup qualifying draw against Norway in October 2008. The former Kilmarnock forward made his decision after being left on the bench in favour of Chris Iwelumo, whose infamous miss denied Scotland a precious victory.

Now, having put himself back in the frame under new Scotland manager Craig Levein, Boyd is on a collision course with the fans on 3 March.

And McBookie.com wasted no time in offering odds of 5/4 that Boyd will be booed by the Scotland supporters, while also laying 8/11 that the fans will get behind the returning striker.

However, the bookies are never soft and the proviso on the crowd reaction bets are all subject to one condition: "must be audible to TV viewers".
