Kevin Thomson '˜almost joined' Celtic alongside Scott Brown

Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson came very close to both joining Celtic when they both left Hibs in 2007, the two players revealed on the Ladbrokes Football Show last night.

Brown and Thomson were both at Hibs before they were signed by Celtic and Rangers respectively, but it was not a foregone conclusion that the two of them would face off against each other on opposite sides of the Old Firm.

After both coming through the youth system at Easter Road, they came very close to linking up together on the Parkhead pitch when they left the Hibees as two promising young midfielders in 2007.

“We thought we were going to,” said Thomson. “At one stage we did feel when we were going through that period of moving on that we’d go to the same team.

“It’s easy for me now and easy for Scott as that was the team we potentially thought we’d go to. We thought we’d go to Celtic then things just changed, more so last minute for myself.”

Rather than linking up with each other for years to come at Celtic, Thomson moved to Rangers in a deal worth £2million and Brown went through with his move to Celtic for £4.4million.

Brown added “It would have been a dream for the two of us.

“We both had the same agent and we were both enjoying playing together at Hibs and the dream for us was to go on and play for the same team. We shared a flat together so it would have been ideal.”
