TEN-MAN Penicuik were
denied in cruel fashion by Kelty Hearts as their Emirates Scottish Junior Cup third-round tie went ahead at the ninth time of asking after being switched to Oakley United’s Blairwood Park.

After a goalless first half, the second period started in controversy when with 48 minutes gone a McDermott challenge at the edge of the box was deemed to be worthy of a second yellow card and Cuikie were reduced to ten men.

Despite that setback, the visitors took the lead as a Millar knockdown at the right hand side of the box fell to Barr who hit the ball sweetly on the half volley from 22 yards past the despairing dive of Fleming.

With just five minutes left, a cross from the right by Kelty sub Neil ‘Nelly’ McCabe evaded everyone except for namesake Neil McCabe who glanced the ball past Bald. A further chance fell to the Gray in the 86th minute when Bald saved well and the header from the rebound came off the post. But four minutes into stoppage time, Brian Ritchie blasted home from close range to clinch a fourth-round tie at home to Cumbernauld United.
