Jordi Virgili is out to be a star

SPANIARD Jordi Virgili brings a cosmopolitan air to Linlithgow's line-up.

Recently graduated as an engineer at Aberdeen University, the left back lives in Dundee and travels down to Prestonfield with manager Dave Baikie.

In his first season at the club he has established himself as a superb footballer with a terrific ability to pass the ball. Some supporters are saying he's the best passer in Junior football in Scotland.

So how come he's playing part-time football? "I had to finish my university course first before I thought about stepping up," revealed Virgili, "but I'm looking to earn more money working than playing football.

"I spent five years playing for small clubs in Spain. I played with lots of the Barcelona players who are now in the first eleven. But," he said with tongue firmly in cheek, "they can't say the have played in such a huge game as the Scottish Junior Cup so they will be jealous of me."
