Jackson unhappy over Pars bidder’s secret identity

DUNFERMLINE administrator Bryan Jackson has told Pars supporters that he shares their frustration over the secrecy of the second takeover bid.

Fans’ group Pars United have tabled an offer to become the club’s new owners but face competition to be named preferred bidder from another group, who want to remain anonymous.

With fans fearing that departed owner Gavin Masterton, whose mismanagement of the club effectively drove it into administration, is involved with the mystery bidders, the Pars Supporters’ Trust have pleaded with them to reveal their identities.

Jackson, who is also the Hearts administrator, is set to announce the club’s preferred bidder this week.

He said: “Hopefully we will have a preferred bidder out of the two. It’s been frustrating that one bidder wants to remain confidential and I’m not happy about it, but I have to respect it.

“I’ve got meetings with both interested parties to go through the conditions, some of which are not acceptable. We really have to identify one quickly because we have a provisional date for our CVA meeting on 12 July.”

A potential takeover is far from straightforward, with the company that controls the stadium also in administration. Jackson added: “The added complication we have is the administrator for East End Park will have to be happy with who we want to go with. There is no point in getting the stadium but not the club and vice versa.”
