Jack rescues University

Edinburgh UNIVERSITY’S Jack Beacher scored with a spectacular 35-yard shot midway through the second half to earn the students a 1-1 draw away to Gretna 2008 in the East Seniors Central Taxis Premier Division.

The University, who were without eight of their first-team squad, had fallen behind shortly after half-time to a well taken first-time volley from Joe Slattery. However, Edinburgh maintained their composure and were duly rewarded with Beacher’s snap shot which caught out the Gretna goalkeeper, Kyle Townsley, the son of former Hibs
player Derek Townsley.

Goalscorer Beacher said: “We stayed very solid in what was a good team performance with a lot of hard graft.”
