Jack Milne delivers honest insight into Aberdeen struggles, personal battles and dressing room unity
Defender opens up on the toughest season of his career
Jack Milne has conceded this season has brought some of the toughest challenges of his career but insists Aberdeen must stick together through the difficult moments as they look to turn their fortunes around.
A narrow 1-0 defeat by Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final at Hampden left centre-back Milne contemplating another setback in a campaign mired by inconsistent performances and results, which have placed increasing scrutiny on manager Stephen Robinson.
Milne, however, believes there is a strong sense of unity within the dressing room and insists the players remain convinced they are building something positive together despite their domestic struggles.

Asked about his own experiences so far this season, Milne admitted: “I'd be lying if I said it's not been difficult. Probably one of the hardest battles of my career. I've had a lot going on and some disappointing performances. But that's football, it's got ups and downs and we’ve got to keep our heads down and get through it.”
The defender was keen to stress that his team-mates are determined not to allow the external criticism surrounding the club to undermine their collective efforts.
“We try not to pay too much attention to the outside,” he declared. “It's us as a group, as players and staff. We feel we're building something. I think every player in there feels like we're building something. It felt, even before the game [on Saturday], there was a special, special feeling brewing.
“All of us believe we're going to get a result that could turn our season around. We just need to keep working hard, stay together through the tough times and the good. Hopefully, we come out the other side of it.”
Milne delivers Aberdeen rallying cry
There was certainly evidence of that fighting spirit against Rangers, with Aberdeen pushing their Glasgow rivals all the way before eventually conceding seven minutes from time.
Milne felt the performance represented a significant improvement in terms of commitment and determination, despite the disappointment of missing out on a shot at Hampden glory.
“We gave it everything. I gave 100 per cent. We were down to the bare bones and I don't think there's one person in that changing room who didn't give everything today. Yeah, I'm disappointed.
“But I think there are definitely positives to take from it. The grit and determination was definitely there. We fought for every ball, every duel. On another day, we probably get a result.”
