Inverness boss John Hughes hints at system change

INVERNESS manager John Hughes has hinted at a change of system following his side’s 2-1 home Scottish Premiership defeat to Ross County.

Caley Thistle are now without a win in their last four games as Hughes continues to search for his first home win in the dugout.

Goals from Scott Boyd and Alex Cooper put County clear in the first period and Aaron Doran’s late consolation, coming 10 minutes after Ross Draper’s dismissal for an elbow on Stuart Kettlewell, came too late for the hosts.

Hughes feels that he may have to rejig his team to prevent them from suffering further defeats in the coming weeks.

“We might need to change the shape a wee bit and it’s definitely something we’ll sit down and look at,” he said.

“We need to take a look at personnel as well, we’re a bit walking wounded in the dressing room.

“As a coach or manager you’re looking at the game and seeing where you can improve and there’s definitely room for improvement.”

Loan signing pleases Adams

Ross County sprang a surprise in their team selection with the arrival of former Sheffield United youngster Jordan Slew, on loan from Blackburn.

The pacy forward played a key part in both goals, setting up Cooper’s finish, and his manager Derek Adams was pleased he could get the deal done in time.

“We only got clearance for him on Wednesday morning and I’ve been at the stadium waiting for that to come through,” he said.

“I think Jordan was terrific, he came in and did well and gave us an ‘out’ ball. He caused (Gary) Warren and (Josh) Meekings some trouble.

“Tribute to everyone at the SFA and SPFL, I was working with guys like Sandy Bryson and Donnie McBean and we worked hard on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning to get it through and we’re delighted.”
