Scotland's Euro 2022 hopes dented after defeat in Portugal
A goal from Ana Borges midway through the second half was enough to condemn Shelley Kerr's side to defeat in their latest Euro 2022 qualifier.
Erin Cuthbert and Martha Thomas had late chances to equalise but they were denied by Portugal keeper Patricia Morais.
Scotland – who were without their head coach Shelley Kerr due to Covid-19 self-isolation regulations – are now third in Group E. Portugal’s victory moves them joint-top of the pool on 13 points with Finland, four clear of the Scots.
Scotland welcome the Finns to Easter Road on Tuesday night in what is now a critical match for their qualification hopes.
