Scot Gemmil’s side are drawn in the only qualifying section with five teams for the chance to reach the Romania and Georgia shared tournament in two years’ time.

Fixtures have yet to be decided, but group winners and the best performing runner-up will qualify for the tournament and all remaining second-placed teams entered into play-offs.

Scotland, with the likes of Billy Gilmour of Chelsea, Rangers’ Nathan Patterson and Hibs’ Ryan Porteous, went close to qualifying for this year’s under-21 competition but fell at the final hurdle, losing to Greece in November.

Of their prospective opponents for the next tranche of qualifiers, only Denmark will be involved in Hungary and Slovenia this spring. The tournament has been rescheduled to accommodate the delayed Euro 2020 championships for full internationals. The senior competition kicks off in Rome on June 9 while the under-21s start on March 24.
