Scotland’s squad for the World Cup in the summer included no less than four players currently playing for clubs in the Italian top flight, with Scott McTominay, Lewis Ferguson and Che Adams headlining a list of names currently making their mark in Serie A.
However, while the aforementioned trio have become the poster boys for ‘Scots Abroad’, they aren’t the only ones to have opted to take their careers to Italy, with a host of others currently plying their trade for various clubs in the Mediterranean country.
With players currently playing in Italy, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Croatia, and Czechia, there’s no doubt Scotland are represented the world over.
Here we look at the nine Scottish players currently playing in Serie A and Serie B, and assess how they've done for their Italian teams in the opening months of the season. Who has enjoyed a successful start to the campaign - and who needs to improve in the months ahead?

1. Che Adams - Torino
Outside of a thigh injury he picked up in September, it has been an impressive start to the campaign for Adams. He's scored three goals in five appearances already for Torino, including a goal of the season contender against AC Milan in August. | AFP via Getty Images

2. Lennon Miller - Udinese
The 20-year-old started the season in the Udinese starting XI and performed well against Venezia and Lazio. However, he was dropped to the bench after struggling against Inter Milan and Cagliari before the international break. He hasn't played a minute of football for over a month. | Getty Images

3. Scott McTominay - Napoli
Started the club's first two games of the new campaign, before he was forced to miss almost five weeks of action after undergoing minor surgery for a heart condition. Napoli have struggled in his absence, and currently occupy an unexpectedly low position of ninth in Serie A. However, after returning as a substitute in a 3-0 win over Frosinone, McTominay has worked his way back to fitness and showed his importance to the cause by scoring his first two goals of the season in a 4-3 Champions League win over Bodo/Glimt earlier this week. | AFP via Getty Images

4. Liam Henderson - Sampdoria
The former Hibs and Celtic midfielder has been in Italy longer than anyone on this list, first signing for Bari in January 2018. Following spells with Hellas Verona, Empoli and Leece, the 30-year-old joined Serie B outfit Sampdoria last summer. A regular starter at the Marassi, the Blucerchiati have had a tough start to the season and sit bottom of the second tier with just one win in their opening seven league games. Despite that, Henderson has scored two goals in seven starts. | Getty Images
