Scotland will be looking for a return to winning ways when they face Israel in their final Nations League contest.

Steve Clarke’s boys suffered a first defeat in 10 games when a much-changed Scotland side narrowly lost to Slovakia on Sunday.

It came just days after the euphoria of reaching a first major men’s tournament in 22 years, when the Tartan Army sealed a dramatic penalty shootout win over Serbia.

David Marshall’s penalty save secured a place at next year’s UEFA European Championships for Scotland - and sent a football loving nation into dreamland.

Now, as attention turns to the Nations League, Scotland have the chance to finish top of the League B Group 2 table.

A win in Israel would confirm the top spot and secure promotion to League A.

What’s been said ahead of Israel v Scotland?

Defender Scott McKenna said Scotland’s task was clear.

“We need to go to Israel and try to get three points to finish top of the group,” the Nottingham Forest defender said.

“Obviously it’s the end of a winning run but it’s now the chance to start another one. We know if we go there and get three points then we will win the group.

“Obviously you would far rather [do] that, than require results elsewhere. But the fact it’s that black and white – three points and we qualify – makes it easier for us.”
