Fraser Hornby smashes Scotland Under-21 goalscoring record with goal blitz against San Marino
The 21-year-old converted a penalty in the 2021 Under-21 European Championship qualifier and then followed it up with two further goals, taking his tally to ten.
He surpasses Jordan Rhodes and Scott Booth, who scored eight times for the young Scots in their career. Hornby was subbed after 58 minutes after bagging his treble.
It is a big match for Scot Gemmill’s men as they go in search of qualification for next year’s tournament, scheduled to be held in Hungary and Slovenia.
The three points keep the Scots second in their group, one point behind Czech Republic having played a game less than the Czechs with two fixtures remaining.
Hornby, who is playing his football in France with Reims but has not experienced much game-time, netted the opener in Friday's crucial 2-0 win over Czech Republic at Tynecastle.
