Brechin City confirmed as Club 42 as Glebe Park side to play in pyramid play-off
A 3-0 defeat to Annan Athletic has confirmed Brechin City’s status as the bottom side in League Two this season as the Glebe Park club now start preparations for the pyramid play-offs.
It was announced earlier on Thursday that play-offs between the Highland/Lowland League and the SPFL would go ahead this season after they were cancelled in 2019/20 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Kelty Hearts and Brora Rangers have each been confirmed as champions of their respective leagues, despite the latter playing just three games, as the two non-league sides will square off against Club 42 for a place in the SPFL next season.
Brechin have been bottom of League Two for the majority of the campaign and they would have required a miracle escape from their last three games to give themselves a chance at securing survival. That fell at the first hurdle with a comprehensive defeat at the Galabank.
