I'd do a job for Jambos, says Kaunas goal-getter

FBK Kaunas striker Ricardas Beniusis has pleaded with Vladimir Romanov to transfer him to Hearts after scoring seven goals in the opening four matches of the Lithuanian A Lyga.

The imposing forward has begun the season in prolific form for Kaunas and scored a hat-trick in Wednesday night's 4-0 victory over Atlantas.

With Romanov financing both the Lithuanian club and Hearts through his Ukio Bankas Investment Group, Beniusis now hopes to secure a loan deal that would take him to Scotland this summer.

"I would love to try myself in Scotland, because I think I can fit to the style of play perfectly.

"I like a physical game," said Beniusis, who has assumed the Kaunas captaincy since Tomas Kancelskis was loaned to Hearts from the Lithuanian side in January.

"We talk with the other guys about Hearts sometimes, but I have never received any suggestions from the club," he added.

Beniusis turns 27 on Monday and is a current Lithuanian internationalist with 17 caps and one goal for his country.

He finished last season as a league champion with Kaunas and scored a total of 14 goals, matching his former team-mate Andrius Velicka.

The striker would join several of his countrymen in Edinburgh were Romanov to comply with his wishes and facilitate a transfer. The Hearts squad currently contains 14 players loaned from Kaunas.

ON-LOAN Hearts goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald has been named as the Scottish Football League's young player of the month for March. MacDonald is currently on loan at Ian McCall's Queen of the South and has delivered some impressive performances of late.

HEARTS youngsters Calum Elliot and Lee Wallace have been included in Scotland's under-20 squad for the friendly with Austria on Tuesday, May 1.
