Ian Murray signs new Hibs deal

IAN MURRAY has signed a two-year contract extension which will keep him at Hibernian until May 2012, the Leith club have confirmed.

The utility player has already added 72 appearances for Hibs since returning to Easter Road from Norwich City in January 2008 – taking his total appearances for the club to 238.

Meanwhile, boss John Hughes today ruled Kevin McBride out of this week's two crucial SPL matches against St Johnstone after the midfield star limped off against Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday just seven minutes after coming on as substitute.

The former Motherwell player crumpled in a heap with no-one near him which allowed Kevin Thomson to take possession and set up Kenny Miller for the third goal in 3-0 victory for the home side.

McBride will be sent for a scan today on what is thought to be a groin injury but Hughes is expecting the player to miss both Wednesday and Saturday's games.

"Kevin turned, slipped and seems to have opened up his groin," he said.

"He's usually a quick healer but I'd say he's definitely out of the next two matches."
