Highland League: Teasdale eyes experienced hand for Huntly assistant's role

JOHN TEASDALE may target an experienced Scottish League star as player-assistant manager to kick-start his Huntly revolution.

The 47 year-old, who had been based in Los Angeles, working in the US motor industry, jetted back to Scotland on Friday and saw his new charges crash to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Formartine.

"Nothing has been decided yet as regards the assistant's position, said Teasdale.

"The position may be of interest to someone coming out of a Scottish League club who has a season or two left in them.

He added: "The result and performance showed me a lot about certain players.

Teasdale's side went down early on to a Barry Somers opener before conceding a penalty on the stroke of half-time, converted by Kenny Coull. Stuart Mackay added a third in the 70th minute. Huntly's Simon Scott was sent off in the final minute.

A 5-3 win at Fort William took Buckie Thistle two points clear at the summit with goals from Ian Murray and Charlie Brown sealing victory. Champions Cove lost 3-2 at Lossiemouth, while Fraserburgh were also beaten, 2-0 at Strathspey.
