Highland League roundup: Mechanics keep ticking over

FORRES Mechanics held onto their eight-point lead at the top of the Highland League after a fine 3-1 home victory against Deveronvale. Challengers Cove Rangers and Nairn County also secured important victories to stay in the chase.

Forres went behind to a Grant Noble finish after only five minutes. Kyle Scott levelled for the Can Cans after 12 minutes and Nathan Sharp sent Forres ahead at half-time. A hard-fought match remained in the balance until Kevin Duguid’s clincher 11 minutes from time.

Cove Rangers secured a 3-0 home victory over struggling champions Buckie Thistle. Nairn County maintained momentum with Connor Gethins and Gregg Main’s first half finishes enough to secure a 2-0 win at bottom Strathspey.
