Highland League: Lennox the spark as Cove reclaim top spot

JAMIE Lennox provided the tonic for Cove Rangers as they ended a bout of travel sickness in the Highland League with a 3-2 win at Lossiemouth.

The leaders had only managed to win once away from home this season – at Fort William – before Saturday.

But Lennox, who joined recently from Keith, sparked a change of fortune with Cove’s first goal of the day after the hosts had raced into a two-goal lead thanks to a Ross Archibald double.

Lennox pulled one back on the half hour but it took Cove until the last five minutes to transform the match with goals from Jordan Leyden and Connor Scully. Victory took Cove back above Wick Academy, who were one of ten teams idle because of the wet weather.

Elsewhere, Clach moved into the top four with a 3-1 home win over Huntly, Fraserburgh and Forres shared four goals at Bellslea Park and Buckie Thistle grabbed a 3-1 away win at Brora.
