Highland League: Brora knock Cove off top

CRAIG Campbell declared the Brora Rangers revolution alive and well after knocking Cove Rangers off top spot.

The former Ross County and Alloa striker bagged a double to clinch a 2-2 draw in Aberdeen and Campbell said: “There are good things going on at Brora and we will only get better. We are looking to do as well as we can. Top five would be a good season for us.”

Cove had the better of the first half and stormed ahead through Jamie Beagrie in the 23rd minute before Campbell produced fine finishes in 38 and 61 minutes. However, Martin Johnston pounced to level with just 14 minutes to go.

Cove’s failure to win opened the door for challengers Wick Academy – and they took the opportunity in some style.

Barry Wilson’s men thrashed hosts Buckie Thistle 7-0, with Alan MacAdie scoring five and Stevie Cunningham and Lukasz Geruzel also on target.

In two other games to beat the weather, champions Forres beat Lossiemouth 5-2 and Deveronvale won through 2-0 at home to Strathspey.
