'˜Hibsed it' jokers don't faze Hibs squad - Jason Cummings

Tuesday night’s late collapse to Falkirk was a bitter blow for the team to take in their bid to overhaul Falkirk in second place.

However, for fans it was that little bit worse, as the result brought fresh waves of mirth and schadenfreude from all angles, with the term ‘Hibsed it’ in frequent use once more.

The colloquialism has sprung up in the last couple of years with some Hearts supporters recently starting a petition to get it added into the dictionary.

For those unfamiliar with the term, its definition, according to said petition, is “to be ahead in your pursuit of something, only to mess it up before you cross the finish line”.

Asked whether the term motivated himself of the team, Cummings shrugged it off, stating that critics on social media don’t bother them.

“I’ve obviously seen it because I am on Twitter, Hibsed it and that chat,” said Cummings.

“It doesn’t bother me and I don’t think it fazes the boys either. You just laugh it off and it doesn’t bother us at all.

“To be fair, what people on Twitter and the like say doesn’t drive us on at all. Because it’s coming from people who don’t have a clue what they are talking about.

“People behind Twitter accounts could either be wee laddies who don’t have a clue or old guys who haven’t really had a career or anything. With things like that you just have to laugh.

“Obviously, Falkirk celebrating the other night will give us a drive but things like that don’t bother us.”
