Steven Gerrard and Jack Ross await Scottish Cup update on Rangers' and Hibs' last-16 ties scheduled for live TV

The Scottish FA have said they are in talks with all those involved in the weekend’s games and a decision will be made in due course as the funeral of HRH Prince Phillip has been scheduled for 3pm on Saturday – casting doubt on many activities planned.

Hibs are scheduled to play Stranraer on Saturday lunchtime while Rangers are presently due to kick off at 4pm in another televised last-16 encounter with Celtic at Ibrox.

Jack Ross said: “It would be nice to know as quickly as possible. The governing bodies have to recognise that we don’t just turn up and play football matches. There has to be an appreciation of the professionalism involved in it.

"For us to plan our working week, and plan our preparation and build-up for the game, players take this job seriously. So it would be nice to know as quickly as possible and hopefully we can do that. It might not change anything for us but it would be nice to have confirmation as soon as possible.”

Steven Gerrard said he had “no concerns” over the match, but added, “I'd like to know when it is”.

“It's a game we're very much looking forward to - a mouth-watering tie. Both teams have got a week to prepare going into it so there's certainly no excuses from that point of view.

“It will be a tough tie. We're pleased it's at home and we want to try to build on our strong home record.

"We're certainly looking forward to it but it would be nice to know when it will be.”

An SFA statement on Saturday said: “In light of confirmation that the funeral of HRH Prince Philip will take place next Saturday at 3pm, we have entered dialogue with the relevant stakeholders with regard to Scottish Cup Fourth Round fixtures scheduled on that day.

“We will update participating clubs, supporters and partners in due course.”

A minute’s silence for the Duke of Edinburgh was observed before Rangers won the SPFL Premiership meeting between the sides 2-1 on Sunday with goals from Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent and a headed response from Kevin Nisbet for the visitors.
