The win meant Hearts, who sit bottom of the table on nine points, escaped relegation at the hands of their city rivals.

St Mirren sit 21 points clear of Hearts who have seven games left to play.

Leigh Griffiths signed for Celtic from Wolves in the January transfer window for a fee of around £1m.

He had previously spent two season on loan at Hibs.
