Time for talk is over insists David Wotherspoon

DAVID WOTHERSPOON says Hibs need to back up talk of a revival by picking up points that will lift them from near the foot of the SPL table.

Speaking before Hibs hosted Hearts at lunchtime today, Wotherspoon insisted the Easter Road club were becoming more difficult to beat but admitted the team must begin to win games soon.

Hibs gained just seven league wins throughout 2011 and Wotherspoon believes a run of victories could help lift the club and banish memories of a barren past 12 months.

“We need to do the talking on the pitch now,” Wotherspoon told the Evening News. “We’ve done a lot of talking in the media and behind the scenes but it really needs to happen for us on the pitch.

“We feel we’re organised and that we have a shape about us whereby we’re harder to break down, but we still need to create more going forward. We’ve not created that many clear-cut chances and felt confident we are going to score.

“The boys need to be together and do it for the club, the fans, and ourselves really – to prove we’ve got a team that can win.” Wotherspoon, who will turn 22 in a fortnight, emphasised togetherness and honesty as vital traits among the Hibs squad as they bid to rid themselves of a “fear factor” and climb the league table.

“The boys need to stick together,” he said. “Over the last few weeks, we’ve had a chat with the manager and everyone’s had an opinion on what’s been going on and we think a bit of a fear factor had come in. I think we’ve put that to rest and we need to go out and be brave and encourage everyone to express themselves.”
