SPL Fanzone: Hibernian

PAT Fenlon may have said all the right things before the derby match but that counted for nothing once the game kicked off.

It soon became apparent that the home team wanted the win much more than our players seemed to. If anybody wondered why we were in relegation trouble, then the first-half display provided all you needed to know. Beaten to virtually every ball, totally lacking in guile and wasting whatever possession we did get by giving the ball away too cheaply.

An average Hearts side probably could not believe how easily they won. The second half was better but we still lacked any real threat. Our cup run is a welcome distraction from the league but anything we achieve there will soon sour if we fail to maintain the gap over fellow strugglers Dunfermline. There are many more nails going to be bitten before this season is over.
