Scottish Cup Draw: Hibs to face Aberdeen or Motherwell in fifth-round

Hibs face another all-SPL clash after today’s fifth-round draw for the William Hill Scottish Cup pitched the Edinburgh club against either Aberdeen or Motherwell.

Pat Fenlon’s side will once again enjoy home advantage as they did in knocking the current holders and Capital rivals Hearts out of the competition thanks to David Wotherspoon’s deflected strike yesterday.

The Easter Road outfit will have to wait until tomorrow week to discover their opponents as Aberdeen travel to Fir Park to face Motherwell in a fourth-round replay, the clubs having drawn 1-1 at Pittodrie on Saturday. The Dons have beaten Hibs both home and away this season while Fenlon’s side enjoyed a 4-0 victory over the Steelmen in Lanarkshire.

The tie, which is due to be played on the weekend of February 2-3, is one of three games which will potentially involve SPL sides, Kilmarnock having been drawn at home to the winners of the replay between Ross County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle while St Mirren await the winners of the clash between Cowdenbeath, manager Danny Lennon’s former club, and St Johnstone.

Celtic will travel to play Raith Rovers should they overcome Arbroath in next week’s replay and Third Division leaders Rangers are due at Tannadice to face Dundee United.

Full draw: Kilmarnock v Ross County or Inverness Caley; Dundee v Turrif or Morton; Dundee United v Rangers; Falkirk v Forfar; Hibs v Aberdeen or Motherwell; Dunfermline v Dumbarton or Hamilton; St Mirren v Cowdenbeath or St Johnstone; Raith Rovers v Celtic or Abroath (ties to be played on February 2-3).
