Rangers newco latest

• Reports today suggest Green has hatched a last-ditch plan to get his Rangers newco into the SPL. They claim Ibrox chief executive Green has held emergency talks with other top-flight chairmen and wants them to change their minds in tomorrow’s Hampden vote and allow Rangers into the SPL. • Airdie United will abstain from a vote on newco Rangers - because they stand to be promoted if the Ibrox club ended up in the Third Division. (Sun)

• Aberdeen legend Willie Miller has called on Rangers to be thrown into the Third Division. He said: “Rangers should be punished for the mistakes they made... Going to the bottom rung of the SFL would help Rangers clean up their past errors.” (Mail)

• John Brown has claimed that Ibrox chairman Malcolm Murray cancelled a meeting in which he had promised to produce paperwork showing who owned the club’s assets. (Various)

• Don Hutchison, the former Scotland striker who played for Sheffield United during Charles Green’s controversial period as chief executive, has urged Rangers fans to get behind him. “I think the Rangers fans have to trust Charles Green,” said Hutchison. “He came in at a time when Rangers were struggling and he rescued them.” (Scotsman)
