The Rumour Mill: Tuesday’s football news and gossip

In today’s Rumour Mill: exiled Hearts goalkeeper Marian Kello issues a ‘come-and-get-me’ plea to Celtic; Rangers miss out on another signing; Alan Gow seeks pastures new in Iran; plus the rest of the day’s transfer news

HEARTS goalkeeper Marian Kello says that he has likely played his last game for the club, according to various reports in all of today’s tabloid back pages. The goalkeeper was dropped and exiled from the first team after refusing to agree a move to Austria Vienna for a figure of around £100,000 (though the Daily Mail, it should be noted, quotes £75,000). Kello was accused by the board of not showing commitment to the club, ostensibly for refusing the transfer, but it has since emerged that Kello had also entered into negotiations with a club in England during the transfer window just gone.

Most of the back pages go on to report that the Slovakian international is seeking a move to CELTIC, and could move under freedom of contract in the summer should Celtic reciprocate his interest.

The Daily Express report that RANGERS have missed out on a second trialist following Jorge Claros’s departure to HIBERNIAN last week. Estonian right-back Enar Jaager, who spent a week at Murray Park with Claros, has decided on a move to League One outfit Charlton Athletic. Rangers were keen on arranging a deal for Jaager, but the club have been frustrated by their own financial malaise. Jaager is due to arrive in Charlton today to negotiate terms with Charlton manager Chris Powell.

Much-travelled midfielder Alan Gow, formerly of Falkirk, Rangers and Motherwell (and quite a few other clubs), has agreed terms with Iranian Pro League side Rah Ahan, despite advice to the contrary from the Foreign Office. Gow was released by his last club, Indian outfit East Bengal, in January, and has since been without a team. Gow told The Sun: “When I made the original trip the British authorities advised me not to go, but I didn’t see any bother. No one gave me any trouble.”

The Daily Record report several transfer comings and goings: Stewart Greacen, formerly of Livingston and Morton, has made a switch to League of Ireland side Derry City. Elsewhere, striker Danny McKay has found a home at Albion Rovers after being released by KILMARNOCK, while winger Kevin Finlayson is on the lookout for a club after leaving Clyde.
