HMRC set to reject CVA proposal

The future of Rangers has been cast into doubt with the news that HMRC have rejected the CVA proposal put forwards by Charles Green. Liquidation looks like the next step for the Ibrox club, who owe HMRC over £21 million. HMRC issued a statement, saying:

“Liquidation will enable a sale of the football assets to be made to a new company, thereby ensuring that football will continue at Ibrox.”

Should the club be liquidated it would allow HMRC to pursue individuals as it seeks to receive payment for the debt the club owes.

Forster’s future at Parkhead in doubt over wage demands

Goalkeeper Fraser Forster’s move to Celtic could be in doubt after the player’s agent suggested the club hadn’t met wage demands. The Parkhead side have agreed a £2 million fee with Newcastle, but it is believed that the length of contract and wages offered don’t meet Forster’s demands. The keeper has impressed at Parkhead in two year-long loan deals over the past two seasons, and Celtic are keen to hang onto him. Queen’s Park Rangers have also expressed an interest in Forster, and it is likely that he could open talks with the Loftus Road side should talks fall through with Celtic.

• Former Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc hasn’t ruled out a surprise return to the club. Boruc has plans to leave current side Fiorentina in the summer, and would consider an offer from the Parkhead side, but he has also stated his desire to play at a higher level.

• Neil Lennon has reportedly slapped a £14 million price tag on Victor Wanyama. The 20-year-old Kenyan has been the subject of interest from Newcastle boss Alan Pardew, with new Liverpool boss Brendan Rogers also rumoured to be interrested in the versatile player, who can operate in defence or in midfield.

Hibs target Michalik rejects Carlise offer

Carlisle defender Lubomir Michalik has rejected an offer from the Brunton Park side, and is now a free agent, paving the way for Hibs to make a move for the player. Pat Fenlon is keen to bolster his defence, and the former Bolton and Leeds player could fit the bill. However, Hibs will face competition from Swindon Town and Preston North End for the Slovakian international’s signature.

• Meanwhile, Hibs are attempting to thrash out a deal with newly-promoted Ross County that would see midfielder Martin Scott move back to Victoria Park on loan. Scott has two years left on his Easter Road contract but was placed on gardening leave towards the end of last season, but whilst both clubs are happy for the deal to go through, the player himself would prefer a permanent deal.

Rankin delighted to extend Tannadice stay

Former Hibs midfielder John Rankin has expressed his delight at extending his contract with Dundee United. The 28-year-old was last season voted Dundee United’s player of the year by the fans, and has extended his stay with Peter Houston’s club until 2014. Rankin described the club as ‘a fantastic place’ and was one of the club’s top performers last season.
