SPL clubs meet this morning to discuss their reaction to the decision to place the Rangers newco in the Third Division amid bleak warnings that up to five of them could follow the Ibrox club into administration.

• Inverness and Aberdeen were last night the latest clubs to say they would not accept a u-turn on Rangers at the agm. Hearts and Dundee United have already rubbished the idea of an SPL2 being set up to accomodate the Ibrox club. (Record)

• Scottish football’s top official, SFA chief executive Stewart Regan, was the subject of a proposed no-confidence vote at the meeting of the Scottish Football League on Friday. He was facing calls to consider his position, with the men who proposed and seconded the no-confidence vote, Livingston chairman Gordon McDougall and Cowdenbeath secretary Alex Anderson, calling for Regan to “think about his position”. • Denis Law has joined the SellOutSaturday campaign to save Scottish football launched by Aberdeen supporters as a way of balancing the books of clubs hit financially by the demise of Rangers. (Record)

Lennon has sights on White

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has admitted that he is interested in Aidan White, who is out of contract with Leeds United, and fellow left-back Sebastian Boenisch, who has left Werder Bremen. The Polish international has rejected a one-year contract extension while White is also free. (Sun)

Fyvie holds talks with Wigan

Teenage Aberdeen midfielder Fraser Fyvie is in contract talks with Wigan Athletic. A website statement revealed: “Aberdeen FC can this morning confirm Fraser Fyvie is currently south of the border holding discussions with Wigan Athletic.” (Various)

Hearts seek striker
