Green Brigade fire back at Lawwell

CELTIC fans’ group the Green Brigade have responded angrily to Peter Lawwell’s comments over the controversial banner unveiled at Tuesday’s game with Milan.

The group said: “It is our opinion that the level of apathy from Celtic PLC towards the criminalisation of their supporters is unforgivable.

“We find their accusation of the Green Brigade disrespecting the club to be completely ironic and totally laughable when we consider the level of disrespect they have repeatedly shown to their supporters for far too long – never mind the desecrating of our Club’s proud history and values with the firm objection to implementing the ‘living wage’.” (Scotzine.com)

Rangers: Rebels target Stockbridge, board slam ‘crude’ McColl

• THE ‘requisitionists’ aiming to take control of the Ibrox board have launched a strong attack on finance chief Brian Stockbridge.

In a statement, the Jim McColl and Paul Murray-led group said: “We believe that the position of Brian Stockbridge is completely untenable and he should resign or be voted off the board at the AGM.

“He has presided over significant outflows of cash from the club since the IPO (initial public offering).

• THE Rangers board have issued a statement denying the claims and blasting McColl’s rebel shareholders group.

The board’s statement concludes: “It will have escaped nobody’s attention that Mr McColl and his colleagues are appearing at a fans forum in Glasgow (on Thursday) and today’s statement appears to be a rather crude attempt to garner support for their cause.” (Scotsman)

Hearts CVA meeting may face more delays

THE vital meeting of creditors at Hearts could be delayed once again, as Ukio Bankas and UBIG may be set to ask for more time to consider the Company Voluntary Agreement plan for the club.

The Foundation of Hearts are offering £2.5 million to creditors, who need to agree to the proposals or the club will face liquidation.

The meeting has been postponed once already, and is due to take place tomorrow. (Herald)

Craig Brown backs Hartley for Caley

FORMER Scotland and Aberdeen manager Craig Brown believes that Paul Hartley is the man for the job at Inverness.

Brown said: “He certainly has leadership qualities and a real determination to win. Nobody in the dressing room could question his CV as a player or as a manager.”

Alloa boss Hartley was part of Brown’s Aberdeen side towards the end of his playing career. (P&J)

Rowan Vine to learn fate over Twitter

HIBS striker Rowan Vine will learn today whether he will face punishment for his Twitter feud with Celtic boss Neil Lennon.

Lennon hit out at Hibs’ tackling after the two sides met last month, with Vine responding by making reference to a 1998 incident where Alan Shearer kicked Lennon in the head during a game.

The 31-year-old’s case will be heard at Hampden this morning. (Various)

Celtic set to lose out on ‘keeper Hahn

CELTIC transfer target Warner Hahn is reportedly set to sign for Feyenoord.

The Dordrecht goalie was linked with Celtic earlier in the season, and said it was “nice to be linked to such a big club”.

Fraser Forster reaffirmed his commitment to Celtic yesterday in the wake of the side’s defeat to Milan.
