Rumour Mill: Edinburgh Derby| Ally McCoist| Neil Lennon

Michael Ngoo wants glory for John McGlynn, David Wotherspoon looks to earn respect, Rangers get a helping hand from Sir Alex Ferguson, and Neil Lennon hits out at his players after their loss.

Ngoo wants derby and cup wins for McGlynn

Hearts striker Michael Ngoo is keen to make his presence felt in his first Edinburgh Derby and hopes to mark up a win and dedicate it to recently ousted manager John McGlynn.

Ngoo hope to pay tribute to his old boss with a victory at Easter Road, the same ground in which the 20-year-old landed two goals (the second by penalty) during Hearts’ League Cup semi-final against Inverness.

“Without a doubt, if we can beat Hibs and win the cup, I’d dedicate that to John McGlynn,” Ngoo said. “He believed in me.” (Sunday Herald)

Wotherspoon has a wall to climb

David Wotherspoon hopes to cement his place in Hibs history, while winning over his girlfriend’s dad with a win in the Edinburgh Derby today.

Wotherspoon says that the goal he scored to end Hibs’ three-year wait for a derby win earned him a place in the shrine kept in the home of his girlfriend’s father.

A huge fan, Steven Appolinari has a wall filled with framed pictures of Easter Road greats, with Wotherspoon noting initially that his own photo was nowhere to be seen. However, in December 2012, Wotherspoon’s goal against Hearts knocked the old rivals out of the Scottish Cup, and Wotherspoon breathed a sigh of relief at his apparent acceptance.

“My picture is at the centre of the wall now. As soon as I scored that goal against Hearts in the cup, my picture went up and then a few others after it. So I think I’ve just about won him round now.” (Sunday Express)

McCoist gets helping hand from Sir Alex

Sir Alex Ferguson has been helping Ally McCoist in his quest to rebuild Rangers.

The Manchester United boss has allowed McCoist and chief scout Neil Murray access to the club’s Carrington training complex to help upgrade Rangers recruitment policy using the Old Trafford model.

McCoist said:” I went down with Neil last month to see Sir Alex at Carrington and he kindly let us have carte blanche in terms of looking at scouting systems, his network and the youth system.”

He added: “He has been very helpful and always had time to talk.” (Mail on Sunday)

Lennon hits out at players

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has blasted his players after their loss to Ross County yesterday, saying that he’ll be happy to drop players if they don’t want to stay.

Dropping a two-goal lead and being handed the loss sent Lennon into a rage, as he voiced fears that some players may already be thinking of their futures elsewhere.

“I am not happy with some of the attitude of the players. Some of them look as if their minds are away elsewhere, maybe at other clubs. I don’t know if they’ve been tapped up and don’t know where they are mentally. But you can tell by their body language that they’re not with us at the minute.”

He added: If they want to leave, they just have to knock at my door and say: ‘Look I want to go’. I’ll leave them out and play someone else who wants to be here.”
