Celtic miss out on Kramaric

CELTIC completed the signing of Croatian defender Jozo Simunovic just before the deadline but appear to have missed out on bolstering their strikeforce.

The Hoops had reportedly targeted Leicester forward Andrej Kramaric on loan, following the departure of Stefan Scepovic to Getafe on a similar deal, but were unable to push through a temporary switch.

Kramaric, 24, joined the Foxes from HNK Rijeka, after netting 55 goals in just 64 matches for the Croatian outfit, but has struggled to replicate his form for Leicester. (Daily Mail)

Hoops land Simunovic

CELTIC have completed the signing of highly-rated Croatian defender Jozo Šimunović.

Celtic and Dinamo Zagreb reached an agreement on a fee of around £4million, while personal terms between player and club were agreed after the defender arrived in Glasgow last night. (The Scotsman)

Feruz vows to repay Stubbs’ faith

ISLAM Feruz has promised Hibs boss Alan Stubbs he won’t let him down after the Chelsea youngster joined Dundee United’s Henri Anier in completing a transfer deadline day move to Easter Road.

Feruz and Anier have agreed season-long loan deals with the Capital outfit as Stubbs insisted they’ll add different dimensions to a Hibs strikeforce which already boasts Jason Cummings, James Keatings, Dominique Malonga and, when he has recovered from injury, Farid El Alagui. (Evening News)

Green and Whyte arrested in Rangers takeover probe

FORMER Rangers owner Craig Whyte and ex-chief executive Charles Green have been arrested as part of an investigation into the “alleged fraudulent acquisition” of the Ibrox club in 2012.

Mr Green, 62, arrived at Livingston police station in West Lothian on Tuesday, where he was understood to have been interviewed by officers about his time at the Glasgow club.

Mr Whyte, 44, who took control of Rangers in 2011 before the club entered administration, attended a police station in Glasgow later in the day for questioning. (Various)

Van Dijk pays tribute to Hoops after Saints switch

VIRGIL van Dijk claims Celtic “did everything” to keep him at the club only for the lure of English football to prove too much.

After months of speculation, the 24-year-old defender joined Southampton on a five-year deal for a fee of £13 million.

“I would like to thank all the Celtic fans for the magnificent support they have given me during my time at the club,” he told Celtic’s official website.

“Celtic is a brilliant football club; it will always be in my heart and I will always be a Celtic supporter myself.” (The Scotsman)

Christie joins Celtic but will stay at Inverness on loan

RYAN Christie followed fellow Scots Stuart Armstrong, Gary Mackay-Steven and Scott Allan in putting pen to paper on a deal at Celtic, but will stay at Inverness on loan.

Insall joins Hibernian

ENGLISH striker Jamie Insall was confirmed as a Hibs player last night, after weeks of speculation that the highly-rated forward would join the club.

Hooper move falls through after VIP box row

GARY Hooper’s proposed loan move to Sheffield Wednesday fell through after the Owls refused to throw in a £30,000-a-year VIP box for the former Celtic striker.

The Hillsborough club had already agreed to pay the Canaries a £500,000 loan fee and were set to pay Hooper’s £32,000-a-week wages in full.

However, Hooper pulled out of the switch after Wednesday reportedly refused to give him the VIP box for his friends and family. (Sheffield Star)
