CELTIC are reportedly lining up a shock swoop for ex-West Ham striker Carlton Cole.

The 31-year-old is a free agent and watched the 6-0 drubbing of Dundee on Sunday.

And Ronny Deila said: “Carlton is a very good footballer. He has shown he can score goals and is different to what we have. He is a target man, very good in the air and strong.” (Scottish Sun)

Dons ‘have good chance’ of title win - Neilson

HEARTS boss Robbie Neilson reckons Aberdeen have a good chance of winning the title.

The Dons stunned Tynecastle by racing into a 3-goal lead by half-time on Sunday, with Igor Rossi’s second half strike merely a consolation for the Jambos.

And Neilson said: “They’ve got real character and real strength in depth and they know how to win games. They’ve finished third, second and are now pushing for first. I think they’ve got a chance of doing that. It’s just a chance at the moment but it’s a good chance.” (The Scotsman)

Henderson reveals free-kick work

HIBS star Liam Henderson has revealed he only scored the winner for Alan Stubbs’ men at Almondvale - after managing to shut Jason Cummings up.

The on-loan Hoops ace swept home a free kick early in the second half as Hibs eked out a 1-0 win over Livingston and Henderson - who was born in the town - revealed a tongue-in-cheek comment had prevented Jason Cummings from trying his luck with the dead ball.

Celtic 6 Dundee 0: Birthday delight for Deila after rout

RONNY Deila will be able to enjoy his 40th birthday today after his Celtic side delivered their most impressive display of the season when he needed it most.

The champions romped to the biggest league victory of Deila’s managerial tenure against Dundee. Emilio Izaguirre earned some redemption with two of Celtic’s goals after his midweek red card against Ajax, although he missed out on a hat-trick when he failed to convert a penalty. (The Scotsman)

Dons striker ‘not getting carried away’ over title hopes

ABERDEEN striker Niall McGinn admitted that top of the Premiership is “a nice place to be” but he’s not getting carried away with a club record run of eight wins in a row and talk of the title is still strictly off-limits.

“Being at the top is certainly better than being at the bottom, looking up,” said the striker who scored one goal and made two for David Goodwillie. “If we keep winning these important games that will definitely benefit us in the long run.

“But it’s a long old season so there’s no point in talking about it [the title]. If, come March or April, we’re in a strong position we’ll obviously talk then but right now we’re concentrating on taking one game at a time. (The Scotsman)
