Rangers want to send Hibs into tailspin - Kenny Miller

Kenny Miller hopes Rangers can send Hibernian into the same kind of tailspin they have suffered since the Leith men shot down their unbeaten start to the Ladbrokes Championship campaign.

The Ibrox men took a perfect record of 11 league wins out of 11 into November’s Easter Road clash.

But they were stung by a 2-1 defeat in the capital and the crisis of confidence sparked by that loss has seen them spill another 10 points in the two months that have followed.

And while Mark Warburton’s men continue to wobble Hibs have gone from strength to strength under Alan Stubbs, winning 15 out of 17 since their last defeat to the Light Blues at Ibrox at the end of August.

Veteran frontman Miller, though, believes his old side may take a stumble of their own if Gers can triumph when the top two - level on points at the table summit - face off on Monday.

He said: “Why have we dropped 10 points since that first defeat? Well when you have a negative result it can have that sort of result on a team. As much as you don’t want to believe it the facts are there.

“If we can stop this fantastic run they are on and put a little bit of daylight between us then hopefully it can serve as a real boost for us and we can go on another run.

“Might a defeat have the same kind of effect that it has had on us? It could do. There’s no reason why it can’t.

“But we can’t control what happens to Hibs. We can only control what we do. If we win all our games of football from now on, we’ll win the league.”

Stubbs has enjoyed his mindgame battles with Warburton this season and suggested earlier this week Gers were in denial about their slump.

But Miller rubbished those suggestions, insisting the Light Blues know fine well they have failed to shine as brightly as they did during the first three months of Warburton’s reign.

“I’ve got a lot of respect for Alan and the way he sets his team up and the way he’s got them playing,” he said. “But there’s no ‘denial’ involved. You can’t deny the fact we’ve drawn and we’ve lost because we’ve drawn and we’ve lost.

“So there is no denial. Did we deserve to lose both games? Probably not. Did we deserve to win both games? Probably not.

“So there’s no denial, the facts are there in terms of the results. We’re looking at the games and how we can improve for Hibs, and making sure that the same things that happened don’t happen in this game.”
