Pat Fenlon says Hibs stike duo are to be feared

The Easter Road hitmen have claimed eight goals between them in as many matches and while Griffiths leads the way with five, Irishman Doyle scored for the second game in succession as Hibs’ unbeaten run of eight matches came to an end at Pittodrie.

Fenlon reckons the pace and movement of the pair can cause any defence problems and with former Sligo Rovers star Doyle, who scored 25 goals in his last season in the League of Ireland, now brimming with confidence, he feels he and Griffiths are set to wreak havoc. The Hibs  manager said: “Leigh has  probably taken a lot of the  credit but Eoin is playing with real confidence at the moment. His work-rate is fantastic and he is now chipping in with goals which is a real plus.

“They look a handful  together, a really decent partnership.” Meanwhile Aberdeen boss Craig Brown has hit out at Hibs Alan Maybury for his 11th-minute tackle on Dons kid Ryan Fraser, a challenge which earned the much-travelled

defender a yellow card with Fenlon revealing he’d replaced him with Ryan McGivern at half-time for fear he’d pick up another booking.

Brown, however, reckons whistler Calum Murray should have shown the Easter Road star a straight red, insisting: “The referee must have been unsighted to only book Maybury as it was a bad challenge which could have inflicted a

serious injury.

“The challenge is not the sort you like to see being made on any player. It was only good

fortune which saved him from being badly injured.”
